Performance Report of The Insurance Premium Rating
Bureau (IPRB)
The IPRB’s vision and mission are as follows.
Vision:
To build a strong and sustainable foundation for the general insurance industry in Thailand through
accurate information and fair ratemaking services.
Mission:
To prepare reference loss costs for general insurance products, and provide information and research as
a basis for the operation and supervision as well as the development of the general insurance industry.
IPRB was granted budget for operation from Thai General Insurance Association, which was inaccordance
with the Proposal of Organizational Structure and Source of Budget approved by the Department of Insurance.
In 2015, total operating expenses of IPRB was 10.67 million baht. The key outputs are:
1. Development of Insurance Premium Rating:
(1) Providing loss costs and loss ratio of Third Party Property Damage coverage by types of motors.
(2) Analyzing loss ratio of compulsory motor insurance in accordance to the Ministerial Regulation on
Preliminary Compensation, and trend of loss ratio
(3) Calculating loss costs and loss ratio of property insurance
(4) Calculating loss costs and loss ratio of Fire Insurance for residence occupancy
(5) Calculating premium rate of Government Travel Accident Insurance for Foreign Tourists
2. Developing the Insurance Bureau System Project with the Office of Insurance
Commission.
3. Providing information services for Insurers:
(1) Providing various overview market reports on the Information Services System
(2) Providing reports for insurance companies, such as Insurance Industry Flash Report (Market
Ranking), Actuarial Study on Top 50 Passenger Car, including articles in Insurance Journals
4. Development and Improvement of IT System for Thai General Insurance Association
(TGIA):
(1) Developing applications for Car Price List, Standard Prices for Car Repair and Big Accident
(2) Developing Rice Insurance database and Claims Management (Multiple Access for Rice Insurance
database and Claims Application - MARI).
(3) Improving e-Law Library
5. Developing IPRB and TGIA’s internal IT Management System:
(1) Electronic Document Control System
(2) File Sharing System (Network-attached storage: NAS)
(3) Improving and developing IT infrastructure
(4) e-Registration System
(5) Improving and developing Accounting Information System
(6) Improving and developing Personnel Management Information System
(7) Developing database import and checking system under Insurance Bureau System
