Report of the Marine Insurance and
Logistics Committee
1. Membership of IUMI
The Committee applied for a membership of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) to keep the
Committee updated on the news and movements of marine insurance. There were 3 companies that sponsored the
membership fee, i.e., Tokio Marine Insurance (Thailand) Plc., Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (Thailand Branch) and
Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Plc. The Association was granted a 1 year membership, starting from April,
2013 – March, 2014.
2. Joining the Exhibition and Seminar in the Logistics Expo 2013
The Committee, together with the Office of Insurance Commission, set up an exhibition booth to promote
insurance and hosted a seminar on “Fully-equipped with Insurance” in the Logistics Expo 2013 on September 4-7,
2013 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC).
3. Joining the Exhibition in the One Stop Export Service Center Fair
The Committee joined the exhibition in the “One Stop Export Service Center” Fair on September 11, 2013 at
the Ambassador Hotel. The fair was held by One Stop Service Center, Department of International Trade Promotion,
Ministry of Commerce.
4. Appointing Representatives to Participate in Meetings and Seminars
The Committee had appointed representatives to participate in meetings and seminars, being held to
promote and support the development of marine & transportation insurance, organized by public and private
agencies such as Faculty of Law, Thammasat University; Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University; Department of
International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce; Department of Land Transport and Marine Department,
Ministry of Transport.
5. Criteria for Approving Form and Wording, Attachment, Endorsement, and Premium Rating of
Cargo Insurance and Hull Insurance (File & Use)
The Committee, together with the Office of Insurance Commission, had drafted criteria for approving form
and wording, attachment, endorsement, and premium rating of cargo insurance and hull insurance to increase
flexibility of non-life insurance business and to serve the demand of the consumers.
6. Marine & Transportation Insurance Data Structure
The Committee, together with the Office of Insurance Commission and the Insurance Premium Rating Bureau,
had developed a structure of marine & transportation insurance data in order to be a standard structure of data for
non-life insurance companies to report to the Insurance Bureau, a data center of the non-life insurance business.
