Report of the Motor Insurance Committee
1. “Hit and Separate” Scheme
The committee had undertook activities in relation to the “Hit and Separate” scheme as follows:
1.1 Making brochures to promote the scheme to people, insureds, and agencies as well as to the member
companies;
1.2 Making media for FM 91 Traffic Report Radio Station to promote the scheme and crate understanding
among people;
1.3 Making questionnaire about the “Hit and Separate” scheme (on a quarterly-basis) and send to all
member companies in order to follow up the performance of the scheme.
2. Promotion of Law Enforcement to Prevent and Reduce Traffic Accident Project
The Committee conferred awards in the Promotion of Law Enforcement to Prevent and Reduce Traffic
Accident Project to the award-winning metropolitan police stations. The awards, including money, alcohol tester
breathalyzers and light-reflecting traffic vests, were conferred on July 10 2013, at the Thai Traffic Police.
3. Thailand-Laos Cross-border Motor Insurance
The Committee, together with the Office of Insurance Commission and the National Bureau of Thailand, had
joined the Thailand-Laos Cross-border Motor Insurance Meeting with the National Bureau of Lao P.D.R. during
August 21-24, 2013 in Luang-Prabang, Lao P.D.R. In the meeting, operations of the compulsory cross-border motor
insurance and claim services for voluntary motor insurance were discussed.
4. Setting up TGIA Standard Wage Rates for Car Repair
The Committee had set up the Thai General Insurance Association (TGIA) wage rates for car repair,
classified by cost of repair of each automobile brand and model, to be used as a standard. The member companies
can use the information as a reference cost for their own operation and can promote the rates to be a reference cost
for motor insurance business.
5. Setting up TGIA Standard Car Prices
The Committee set up Thai General Insurance Association (TGIA) standard car prices to be used as
reference costs for non-life insurance companies in determining a sum insured and claim payment instead of
buying the information from the Automotive Data Services (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (known as Redbook). The standard
prices were set to be fit most with the member companies’ operations and aimed to be accepted both by the
insureds and the supervisory authority.
