5. Developing Tug Boats and Barges Liability Insurance
The Marine Department had a policy to have the insurance for tug boats and barges available in the market
to enable the implementation of forcing tug boats and barges to have insurance covering the 3 party liability and

loss and damage to the environment. The Marine Department asked the Committee to develop a policy for Tug
Boats and Barges, and the Committee had developed a policy accordingly. The developed Tug Boats and Barges
Liability Insurance, together with the premium rate, were proposed to the Office of Insurance Commission and the
Marine Department for further discussion.
6. Jet Ski Insurance
The Marine Department had a policy to have a Ministerial Regulation to cope with problems from jet skies by
forcing all jet skies for rent to buy insurance. The Marine Department asked the Committee to develop an insurance
policy for jet skies and to determine premium rate as well as the limit of liability. The Committee had developed the
policy and premium rate accordingly and proposed them to the Marine Department for consideration in compliance
to the aforementioned Ministerial Regulation.
7. Revising Coverage for Day Case Project
The Office of Insurance Commission had revised the coverage for medical expenses incurred to in-patient
who had not to stay overnight in a hospital (Day Case) to be an operating guideline for insurance business. A working
group was set up for the revision, consisting of representatives from the Office of Insurance Commission, non-life
insurance business and life assurance business, to jointly define the word “Day Case” and to develop a daily cash
benefit insuring agreement/ endorsement to extend the coverage on daily cash benefit for Day Case.
8. Miscellaneous, Accident and Health Insurance Data Structure
The Committee, together with the Office of Insurance Commission and the Insurance Premium Rating Bureau,
had developed a structure of miscellaneous, accident and health insurance data in order to be a standard structure
of data for non-life insurance companies to report to the Insurance Bureau, a data center of the non-life insurance
business.
