13. Performance of the Office of Arbitration
The Office of Arbitration has been in operation for 19 years. In 2013, the Office received 2,467 cases of
dispute, a decrease of 22% or 674 cases from the prior year. Total amount of disputes in 2013 was around 157
million baht. The highest amount of dispute was around 1.1 million baht. In 2013, the Office had settled 2,868
disputes, of which 662 disputes or 23% were ruled by arbitrators, 1,644 disputes or 57% were compromised in the
secretariat level of the Office of Arbitration, and 562 disputes or 20% were withdrawn from the arbitration. The total
amount of settlements in 2013 was around 116 million baht. As of December 31, 2013, there were 2,966 cases
pending, 1,285 cases being under the process of withdrawal from the arbitration and having Samphan Insurance
Company Limited as a disputing party, 1,881 cases being undertaken, 1,562 cases being under the process of
arranging appointments for compromising and filing for objection, and 319 cased being reviewed by arbitrators.
14. Performance of the Insurance Premium Rating Bureau (IPRB) in 2013
The IPRB’s vision and Mission are as follows:

information and fair ratemaking services.

Prepare reference loss cost for general insurance products, and provide information and research as a basis
for the operation and supervision as well as the development of the general insurance industry.
