10. Developing Personal Accident (P.A.) Micro-insurance
Office of Insurance Commission, together with Thai General Insurance Association and Thai Life Insurance
Association, had followed the public policy of using the insurance system to enhance people’s quality of life through
the development of insurance products, distribution channels, and one-stop claim payment service to serve all
groups of people, especially the blue-collar, self-employed, and low-income people. To serve this purpose, the
“200 baht insurance” was developed. The 200 baht insurance is a Personal Accident insurance which the premium
is as low as 200 baht per year, providing the limit of the loss of life as high as 100,000 baht. Insurable person must
be between 20-60 years old and can buy at most 2 policies. If more than 2 policies are purchased, only the first two
policies are in effect. The insurers of latter policies will return the premium in full to the insured or to the beneficiary.
11. Social Responsibilities and Public Activities
Thai General Insurance Association had conducted many social responsibilities and public activities as follows:
11.1 “Body Armors to 3 Southern Border Provinces” Project
The Association sponsored the “Body armors to 3 southern border provinces” for 100,000 baht to buy
bullet-proof vests and bullet-proof armor plates for the Royal Thai Marine Corps serving duty in the 3
southern border provinces. The total amount of donation contributions from Thai insurance business of
2,865,000 baht was handed to the Naval Headquarter on September 16, 2013.
11.2 “Insurance Unity to Help Flood Victims” Project
Thai General Insurance Association, together with the non-life insurance companies, had prepared and
distributed 1,402 life-saving bags containing necessary consumables, a using of 701,000 baht of the
budget, to help the victims in flood-suffering areas. The life-saving bags were handed directly to the
flood victims in Pitsanulok and Prachinburi in October 2013.
11.3 Donation to the Super Typhoon Victims in The Philippines
Thai General Insurance Association, together with the non-life insurance companies, donated money to
the Super Typhoon victims in The Philippines. The total donated amount was 687,000 baht.
11.4 Sponsoring Activities of the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand (Under Royal Patronage)
(RAAT)
1) Granting a budget of 50,000 baht for the activities held by the RAAT in 2013.
2) Granting a budget of 10,000 baht for joining a rally in honor of H.R.H. Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn,
held during July 20-21, 2013, from Bangkok-Trat.
3) Granting a budget of 300,000 baht for activities to be held by the RAAT in 2014.
11.5 “Insurance against Coldness” Project
Thai General Insurance Association prepared and distributed 4,000 sheets of blankets under the
“Insurance against Coldness” project to coldness victims who were in poverty and lacked of blankets
as follows:
- 2,000 sheets of blankets in Amphoe Phusang and Amphoe Chaingcam, Prayao, on December 23,
2013; and
- 2,000 sheets of blankets in Tambon Baan Pai, Amphoe Nampard, Uttaradit, on January 10, 2014.
12. Conducting the Agent Licensing Examinations
In 2013, Thai General Insurance Association had conducted agent licensing examinations nationwide.
In total, there were 7,377 people applying for the examinations; of which 83.14% actually sitting for the exams and
16.86% absent. The passing rate was 39%.
