6.2 Donated 1,000,000 Baht to help the people who were affected by the Tsunami disaster in Japan.
6.3 Donated a sum of 1,200,000 Baht to construct 5 houses (240,000 Bht. Each) for the people, affected
by the flood in Surat Thani Province on April 22, 2011.
6.4 Donated 200,000 Baht to help the flood victim at the “Thai People United To Help the Flood Victims”
event through the Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the Government House on September 14, 2011.
6.5 Joined the member companies to donate 175 plastic boats and oars, 350 life-saving jackets and 35
stainless water tank to the people, affected by the flood in Lopburi, Phra Nakhon Sri Ayudhaya, Singburi and
Angthong provinces.
7. Activities Implemented by ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Working Group
7.1 The ASEAN Free Trade Follow-up Meeting
The General Insurance Association attended a meeting to follow-up the progress of ASEAN Economic
Community (AEC) movement, especially the preparation of the “Offer List” and the “Request List” for insurance
sector liberalization with various private and government agencies as follows:
1) The Department of Trade Negotiation: The General Insurance Association met for a consultation on
the liberalization of insurance sector whose agreement has been made under the General Agreement on Trade in
Service: GATS) with many countries in the World Trade Organization (WTO), ASEAN, ASEAN-Australia
New Zealand Free Trade Area: AANZFTA), ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Area: AKFTA, Thailand-ASEAN Free Trade
Area: TAFTA and Thailand-India Free Trade Area.
The General Insurance Association also proposed the “Towards ASEAN Economic Community Plan” to the
Department of Trade Negotiation so the DTN could integrate it into the National AEC Strategic Action Plan as a
part of the preparation by the insurance business for the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community plan
in 2015.
