Report of the Marine Insurance and
Logistics Committee
1. Membership of IUMI
The Committee applied for a membership of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) to get update
news and movements of marine insurance in order to disseminate marine information to member companies. There
were 3 companies that sponsored the membership fee, namely, Tokio Marine Insurance (Thailand) Plc., Mitsui
Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (Thailand Branch) and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance (Thailand) Plc. The
Association became the IUMI member for the second year, starting from April, 2014-March, 2015.
2. Joining the Exhibition and Holding a Panel Discussion in the Logistics Expo 2013
The Committee, together with the Office of Insurance Commission, set up an exhibition booth to promote
insurance and held a panel discussion on “Fully-equipped with Insurance” in the Logistics Expo 2014 on
September 24-27, 2014 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC).
3. Joining the Exhibition in the One Stop Export Service Center Fair
The Committee had joined the exhibition in the “One Stop Export Service Center” Fair for 4 times on June 5
and 8, 2014 and July 17 and 30, 2014 at the Department of International Trade Promotion, Bangkok. The fair was
held by One Stop Export Service Center, Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce.
4. Appointing Representatives to Participate in Meetings and Seminars
The Committee had appointed representatives to participate in meetings and seminars, organized by public
agencies and private organizations, aiming to promote, support and develop business of marine insurance and
logistics. For instance, the Imports-Exports Transport Association, Department of International Trade Promotion,
The Office of Industrial Economics, Department of Trade Negotiations, and Faculty of Law, Thammasat University.
5. Joining Conference on the Development of Insurance Application System for Customs Clearance
via the National Single Window System
The Committee appointed a representative to participate in a conference with the Customs Department in
examining methods of development of insurance application system and the insurance application flowchart for
customs clearance via the National Single Window System. The System would help increase Thailand’s international
trade competitiveness.
6. Publishing a Book of the Marine Insurance and Logistics Committee
The Committee published a book on Carriers’ Liability Insurance Policy (revised 2014) and manual for policy
interpretation for 2,000 copies.
