6. Revising and Amending the Travel Accident Insurance Policy (File and Use)
The Committee revised and amended the Travel Accident Insurance (File and Use) to be used as a standard
policy and developed 6 additional endorsements as follows:
1. Coverage for trip cancelled or postponed
2. Coverage for flight delay
3. Coverage for loss or damage of baggage and/or personal property in the baggage
4. Coverage for baggage delay
5. Coverage for third-party liability
6. Coverage for missing connecting flight
7. Proposal of Coverage Plan of Riot and Terrorism for Foreigners
Thai General Insurance Association has proposed, to the government, 2 plans of Riot and Terrorism coverage
for foreigners, which would be used with in-bound tourists visiting Thailand, as follows:
1. Coverage for loss of life, loss of hand/ foot/ sight, or total permanent disability caused by an accident at
10,000 USD plus costs of body repatriation or medical evacuation at actual amount but not exceeding 5,000 USD.
Total premium is 50 million baht. (No limitation on number of tourists.)
2. Coverage for loss of life, loss of hand/ foot/ sight, or total permanent disability caused by an accident at
50,000 USD plus costs of body repatriation or medical evacuation at actual amount but not exceeding 5,000 USD.
Total premium is 70 million baht. (No limitation on number of tourists.)
8. Miscellaneous, Accident and Health Insurance Data Structure
The Office of Insurance Commission has set up a project of Insurance Bureau System (IBS) Development,
aiming to have a central database for the insurance business. In this regard, the OIC assigned related parties to
review details of the data structure of all types of insurance one more time to ensure that they are in line with
companies’ operations. The Miscellaneous, Accident and Health Insurance Committee joined meetings to review
the details of the data structure of miscellaneous, accident and health insurance, together with the Thai Insurers
Datanet Company Limited and the Insurance Premium Rating Bureau. Comments from the meetings will be sent to
the OIC and a briefing meeting for the member companies will be held afterward.
