5. Setting TGIA’s Standard Prices for Car Repair
The Committee set up a Car Repair Prices Working Group to adjust and determine standard car repair
prices which could be used as a reference for member companies in their operations as well as published as
referred prices of motor insurance business. The Working Group comprised of specialists from a number of
organizations such as representative(s) from OIC, representative(s) from The Union Motor Repairing Association of
Thailand, representative(s) from EMCS (Thai) Company Limited, and representative(s) from insurance companies.
At present, standard car repair prices have been done for 21 makers, 180 model years and already opened for
member companies to download to use as a referred prices of motor insurance business.
6. Setting TGIA’s Standard Car Prices
The Committee set up a Standard Car Prices Working Group which comprising of a number of specialists
from business sector, OIC, and other relating organizations. The standard car prices are reference costs in
determining sums insured for motor-underwriting purpose of non-life insurance companies. Moreover, the Committee
also set up a Standard Car Prices Information System with easy and quick search functions for member companies.
The System has been in use since early 2014. Prices of small-sized cars are now up-to-date, having a database of
prices that can be tracked back for 10 years (from 2006-2015), covering 47 makers and 452 models. Prices of
large-sized car are under process and expected to be available to member companies by early 2015.
7. Conducting Training Course on Accident Inspection Class 5
The Committee had conducted a training course on Accident Inspection Class 5 for motor surveyors of
insurance companies. The training was held twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, 57 hours in total, starting from
October 7-November 11, 2014 at the Thai General Insurance Association. The training objectives were to develop
skill, knowledge and understanding in motor insurance to motor surveyors and also to create credit and good image
to the insurance business. It was expected that know-hows and experiences learned from the training would be
applied shortly and practically. A certificate ceremony of the training course on Accident Inspection Class 5 was
held on November 21, 2014 at the Thai General Insurance Association.
8. Joining MOU Signing Ceremony on “Emergency Medical Service for Road Accident Victims”
The Motor Insurance Committee joined MOU signing ceremony on “Emergency Medical Service for Road
Accident Victims” between Thai General Insurance Association, the Road Accident Victims Protection Company
Limited, and the National Institute for Emergency Medicine on August 1, 2014 at Pullman King Power Hotel,
Bangkok.
9. Motor Insurance Data Structure
The Office of Insurance Commission has set up a project of Insurance Bureau System (IBS) Development,
aiming to have a central database for the insurance business. In this regard, the OIC assigned related parties to
review details of the data structure of all types of insurance one more time to ensure that they are in line with
companies’ operations. The Motor Insurance Committee joined the meetings to review the details of the data structure
of motor insurance, together with the Thai Insurers Datanet Company Limited and the Insurance Premium Rating
Bureau. Comments from the meetings will be sent to the OIC and a briefing meeting for member companies will be
held afterward.
