7. Project of Electronic Policy
Thai General Insurance Association, in cooperation with Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), had
undertaken a Project of Electronic Policy. The Project was initiated due to high expense ratio of insurance
companies which part of it resulted from the cost of issuing documents and evidences of insurance such as
insurance policies and receipts. As such, to promote and support insurance companies in reducing their
operational expenses as well as to serve the public and insureds well, TGIA and OIC decided to add addition option
of sending insurance documents and insurance evidences to insureds in a PDF form via electronic channels in
order to shorten the delivery process and time and to reduce the expense of the companies. The insureds can
choose to receive insurance documents or insurance evidences in either papered form or electronic form. A
Commandment in this regard was expected to be announced in 2015.

            8. Filing the Proposal on Writing off Bad Debts from Reinsurance Recoveries Connecting to Flood Claims in 2011
As member companies suffered from reinsurance connecting to the flood in 2011 which was likely that some
reinsurance recoveries might not be paid by both domestic and foreign reinsurers; therefore, Thai General

not paid by reinsurance companies as bad debts and not having to add them back to corporate’s tax calculation.
The Association has filed the Proposal on Writing off Bad Debts from Reinsurance Recoveries Connecting to Flood
Claims in 2011, seeking for a kind permission from the Ministry of Finance via the Permanent Secretary of Ministry
