1. “Safety Engineering and Natural Disaster” Panel Discussion
The Committee assigned a representative to conduct a panel discussion on “Safety Engineering and
Natural Disaster” on October 15, 2011 at the Faculty of Safety Engineering and provided 50,000 Baht support
fund to the Engineering Institute of Thailand Under H.M. the King’s Patronage. The discussion was organized in
order to promote and disseminate technical knowledge on safety engineering which involves directly with
insurance business.
2. Thai Version of Standard Contract Works Insurance Policy (CAR)
The Committee is carrying out a project to draft the Thai version of standard contract works Insurance
Policy (CAR) to be used by member companies in the development of non-life insurance products. Currently, the
committee is gathering riders, being used by member companies to be used in the drafting process.
3. Claims for Losses to Properties During Political Rally and Fire in Bangkok
Organized a meeting among member companies to set up a framework and direction for claim payment
process in cases related to political rallies and fires that occurred in Bangkok between May 19-23, 2010. The
meeting discussed the setting of framework and direction for claim payment process and the defense of court
actions. In the beginning stage, the meeting recommended that each member company should sort out what
types of policies have been issued to the insured and review their terms and conditions, coverages and
exclusions in those policies.
4. Improvement of Endorsements to the Fire Insurance Policy
Improved and filed the endorsement to the fire insurance policy, residence fire insurance policy and
Property Insurance Policy (Or Khor. Or Khor/Thor Sor and Thor Sor) for an approval by the Insurance
Commissioner. They are now under a joint review and revision by the Committee and the Office of Insurance
Commission.
5. Proposed Revision to the Order of the Insurance Commissioner No. 61/2543 Related to
Reinsurance with Local Reinsurer
The Committee proposed a revision on the Insurance Commissioner’s Order No. 61/2543 Re: The
Correction and Changes of Fire and All Risks Premium Rates On the Part Related to Reinsurance with Local
Reinsurer by drafting a proposed revised order, based on the opinions of member companies. The major
proposed revisions include a more flexible requirement on accepting the risks of fire insurance in the country or if
the loss ratio of property insurance in the past 3 years is averagely not more than 30% of the combined amount of
3 years premium, the business asked for an extension of 3 more months that the insurance companies do not
have to maintain the risk in the country. The Insurance Commissioner has already approved the request.
